Hey! I'm Evie! I'm a final-year Human and Social Sciences student at Cardiff University.

My degree is a BPS-accredited psychology degree with a focus on social psychology, alongside sociology, social policy, criminology, and education. It's given me a broader view of society, and a genuine passion for understanding people, behaviour, and communication.

I completed my professional placement year as Marketing and Events Manager for two small businesses run by the same solo female entrepreneur: Women's Academy Wales (a women's network) and The Fabulous Facilitator (a training and facilitation company). I had sole responsibility for both organisations' social media across Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. A huge focus of my work was building community offline through social media, something I'm genuinely passionate about.

What I'm really interested in is the intersection of social media, consumer behaviour, and community: how brands use creativity, strategy, and insight to build authentic relationships and grow a community online, then bring it offline. What drives me is people connecting with one another: I'm a people person to my core, and I want to bring people together and make a positive impact.

I've been a competitive swimmer for 12 years, competing at national and university championships. Swimming shaped who I am as a person, and I'll forever be grateful for the sport.

I solo travelled Canada this summer and completed a summer study programme there! I love to travel and explore new places, especially meeting new people and hearing their stories.

Social Sciences Society: Social Media Revamp

View on Instagram

With Socsi Society, I wanted to completely revamp the society's presence on social media.

Previously, the society had inconsistent branding and wasn't clearly communicating what made it different.

Rather than positioning the society as simply another university society account, I wanted the brand to communicate that Social Sciences is a community beyond the degree.

✱ my approach

I worked alongside the committee to:

  • Reposition the social identity
  • Develop a new visual direction
  • Create content pillars
  • Redesign Instagram
  • Develop an event promotion strategy
  • Focus on community rather than simply advertising events
  • Make the account more accessible, including Welsh-language translations on our posts
✱ the work
  • New bio
  • Built a colour palette & set brand fonts
  • Event promotion graphics
  • Reel concepts, developed and ready to film
  • Broadcast & community strategy

Currently working on utilising Instagram broadcast channels to create a more exclusive community. (I'm on committee for this academic year, until I graduate in July.)

Women's Academy Wales: Social Media & Community

Visit Website

Women's Academy Wales is a community-driven organisation creating spaces for connection, confidence, and professional development through a programme of in-person events.

I had complete creative and strategic ownership of the organisation's social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, adapting content and messaging to suit each platform and audience.

✱ driving attendance

My role centred around using digital marketing to build awareness and drive attendance to in-person experiences, including:

  • Retreats
  • Networking events
  • Open mic nights
  • Speaking events
  • Social and community events

Alongside social media, I planned and executed email marketing campaigns to promote events, engage the existing community, and keep members informed.

From campaign planning and content creation to copywriting, scheduling, and platform management, I oversaw the whole process, from idea to content to audience to event. I worked closely with the co-founders throughout to make sure everything reflected their vision, each of whom also has her own personal brand tied to a separate business, so the content was crafted to build visibility for them individually too.

LinkedIn impressions up 498%.

Believe Organ Donor Support: Social Media & Campaign Support

I worked alongside the CEO and another Social Media Manager to build Believe's social media presence across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, particularly in the lead-up to the launch of the organisation's Organ Donation Garden.

I created and supported a range of TikToks, Instagram content, and Facebook posts, helping to build awareness, generate engagement, and encourage people to attend the garden launch.

A key part of the role was developing campaigns around Organ Donation Week, alongside a wider promotional campaign designed to generate interest and attendance for the garden launch.

The campaign helped bring the event to a much wider audience, with the Mayor of Cardiff attending and the launch receiving coverage from ITV and national news.
